from the hills to you

Currently on an educational excursion the Estes Park, Colorado. Highlights so far:
~driving into Estes, as I've only been here once. It is beautiful to come over the hill
~a guided tour of the Estes Park Museum and several historic sites, such as the Elkhorn Lodge and the Stanley Hotel

~ Watching the rut, which is the elk mating season. We can't stop taking photographs with the rest of the tourists.

~And our work, which I will explain more about later. It is really interesting, especially if you like to dork out with archives.

I have been singing Colorado's praises endlessly lately, but I keep finding new and amazing places here, and Estes Park is one of the best.

last days...

My place of employment, which happens to be a public library branch, is closing for remodeling for six months beginning today. Working customer service jobs in Cherry Creek for the past eight years has taught me many lessons, which will not be discussed here to protect guilty parties. But, I am quite touched that so many people expressed how sad they will be to lose us during this hiatus, and that we really have been a valuable part of their lives. Really, that's what it's all about, being employed as a public servant I suppose. My redeployment begins in a week, after a school trip to Estes Park, where we will be archiving photographs and other stuff at their museum. After a trip to the mountains this past weekend, the colors will definitely be out in all their glory. Colorado, you're in my blood.
